Snap Counts From Cardinals Week 2 Collapse
The Arizona Cardinals couldn't quite hold on to a 20-0 halftime lead over the New York Giants, stumbling in the final two quarters of play to ultimately lose 31-28.
"We've got to coach better. We got outplayed in the second half. A tale of two halves. We have to do a better job to help our guys out because the effort's there and the intensity is there—we've got to coach a little bit better," said head coach Jonathan Gannon after the loss.
The sledding gets no easier in Week 3 as the Dallas Cowboys come to town - but before we dive into Cowboys-Cardinals coverage later this week, here's how the snap counts played out in Week 2:
Cardinals Offensive Snap Counts
Continuity is building for the Cardinals, as the entire offensive line and quarterback Josh Dobbs played every snap for a second consecutive week.
Marquise Brown led all skill position players by playing 61 snaps (94%), the next closest were James Conner (47), Zach Ertz (44) and Rondale Moore (42).
Conner again anchored heavy duties in the backfield as Keaontay Ingram and Emari Demercado combined for just 18 snaps.
Backup tight end Trey McBride played 33 snaps (51%) and Geoff Swaim wasn't far behind him as the Cardinals utilized various multi-TE sets to establish a strong running attack.
Cardinals Defensive Snap Counts
With four defensive starters out for the Cardinals (Budda Baker, Josh Woods, L.J. Collier, Leki Fotu), only three players played every single snap: K'Von Wallace, Jalen Thompson and Kyzir White.
Marco Wilson, Kei'Trel Clark and Andre Chachere all were above the 90% threshold.
Last week, the Cardinals deployed 14 players who were on the field for double digit snaps in the front seven. Heavy rotation was again in the mix with 13 players seeing those numbers in Arizona's 3-4 base defense.
