Commanders' Home Jersey vs Cardinals Revealed
We're finally into the grind of the preseason, and though the regular season is still weeks away, all fans are gearing up for the start of what should be an exciting Week 1 slate across the board.
While things such as rosters and depth charts will be sorted before the Arizona Cardinals travel to take on the Washington Commanders, vastly more important items of interest are at stake: Uniforms.
Look good - feel good - play good is the mantra once uttered by Deion Sanders, and each season rings more true as the NFL is very much a fashion show between action.
The Cardinals introduced fresh uniforms this offseason with sets of red, white and black threads to usher in the beginning of a new era.
They'll be in either red or black come opening week, as the Commanders announced they'll be wearing white against Arizona in Week 1 - one of three times they'll wear them at home.
"The Commanders will begin the season wearing their white jerseys against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1," said the team's official site. "Washington will wear its white uniforms two other times at home: the preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals and the 2023 season finale against the Dallas Cowboys."
While we've yet to see the black jerseys in action, the red uniforms made their debut during last week's 18-17 win over the Denver Broncos:
The white may be an attempt to stay as cool as possible as the summer weather begins to cool down in the early days of September. Interesting note, it will be the first game played outdoors by the Cardinals in 2023, as all three preseason games (two home at State Farm Stadium and one away at U.S. Bank Stadium) are played in a closed roof environment.
Arizona also hosted training camp at their stadium but has been practicing outside for a good portion of practice after stretching in the desert heat.
The Cardinals have yet to announce their uniform lineup this season.
