Cardinals RB James Conner Exits Bengals Matchup With Knee Injury
*Update: Conner did not return in the 34-20 loss*
ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner is questionable to return with a knee injury, according to the team. Antonio Hamilton also left with a knee injury.
Conner injured his knee in the second quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals. It is not known what specific play he was injured on. He was spotted in the blue medical tent before jogging to the locker room.
Prior to his exit, Conner had rushed for 46 yards on six rushing attempts, which included this massive run to help set up Arizona's second score of the day:
Arizona has been mostly a run-dominant team in 2023 under new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, who looked to lean on his veteran running back. Through four weeks of play, Conner was one of the NFL's leading rushers with 318 yards (5.1 YPC) and two touchdowns on the year.
Conner also has gained the most first downs for Arizona with 15 on the ground.
Behind Conner would be running back Keaontay Ingram, who was questionable heading into today but was ruled out just ahead of game time.
Emari Demercado and Corey Clement (who was called up from the practice squad) are set to share carries. The team signed Damien Williams earlier this week to the practice squad but he was not called up for action this weekend.
