Cardinals Safety Budda Baker Reacts to Rams Loss
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals have added another tally to the loss column after a 37-14 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 12.
The Cardinals initially took an early 8-7 lead and looked to be competitive against their divisional foes before the Rams took full control.
After the game, safety Budda Baker met with reporters:
On the biggest struggle defensively today:
“A little bit of everything, honestly. They did a good job in the run game and they did a good job in the pass game so I would say both.”
On the message to the team as its leader:
“Continue to compete. This game isn’t promised to us so we take it one day at a time. We just go to work trying to be the best players that we can be. It’s always about competing. I know our record isn’t the way we want it to be but we have more opportunities to play football and that’s what we have to do.”
On Cardinals S Jalen Thompson’s interceptions in back to back games:
“Great. They were driving on us and he made a great play in that certain call that we had. Very great play. I told him if he had stayed on his feet he could have scored. He’s doing a great job getting to the football, and doing a great job of being that leader on the defense as well, so I’m very excited for him to continue to play good football. At the end of the day we want to win.”
On if there was any difference with LB Josh Woods wearing the green dot today:
“Josh is a great player. He got us the calls at the right times. He did his job in that case. I haven’t watched the film yet, but we are going to continue to take it day by day. Of course, we’ve got (LB) Kyzir (White) for a reason to play that MIKE linebacker but at the end of the day the standard is the standard. Josh Woods has been doing a great job of coming in, having the green dot and calling out the plays.”
On what aspect of today’s loss is most disappointing:
“Stopping the run because that’s how it all starts. They don’t do those play action passes and stuff like that without doing a good job on the run game. That was the emphasis this week, stopping the run, and we just didn’t do that.”
On the performance from the three starting rookies at cornerback today:
“Continued growth. They came back in and competed hard. Great players. Those rookies are only going to continue to get better and I’m very excited for the future for those guys.”
On how he resets after a loss:
“For me personally, I’ll feel my type of way today and feel my type of way tomorrow. (We’ll) get the film in and go to work and understand the things we could have done better. After tomorrow it's the next game mentality because if you continue to dwell in the past you’re not going to have a good future. That’s the main goal.”
