Bijan Robinson to See Increased Role vs Cardinals?
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals welcome a handful of notable names currently playing for the Atlanta Falcons, though none are more bigger - or scrutinized - than rookie running back Bijan Robinson.
That's not faulting Robinson, as the top ten pick has flashed everything he did as a college back at Texas. His usage (or lackthereof) by Atlanta has fallen to heavy discussion through the opening portion of the season.
Robinson hasn't eclipsed 13 touches in the last three weeks with the Falcons being 1-2 in that process. It's been frustrating for Atlanta fans and Robinson fantasy owners alike as one of the top young talents on the team has been restricted.
Not for long, according to The Athletic's Diana Russini, who is reporting the Falcons will see plenty of opportunities moving forward - which could begin in the desert for Week 10's battle vs Arizona.
"Don’t give up on Robinson, because the Falcons haven’t. He’s not in the doghouse. He’s not hurt. He’s not in a funk. He’s just a rookie the team is hoping to encourage, protect and lean on during the second half of the season," wrote Russini.
"Robinson is in line to see plenty of opportunities, I’m told, including in the red zone. One source shared, 'We are confident we will see the best of him down the stretch.'
"This has to happen because the Falcons know they need their best route-runner and playmaker if they want to make the playoffs."
The Cardinals are currently 26th in rush defense by allowing 128.7 yards per game on the ground. Only the Giants (13), Colts (15) and Panthers (15) have allowed more scores to rushers than Arizona (12).
The Cardinals have also failed to successfully limit their opposition's best weapon, and if word of Robinson's increased role is true, that could again come to fruition on Sunday.
