Cardinals Get Keaontay Ingram Back

The Arizona Cardinals are ready to welcome back some much needed help to their backfield.

ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals running back James Conner was placed on injured reserve yesterday, leaving way for a number of different players to make their impact felt for at least the next four weeks while he recovers from a knee injury.

Emari Demercado rushed for 45 yards on ten carries and found the end zone last week after Conner went out. Arizona claimed Tony Jones off waivers earlier this week, previously signed Damien Williams to the practice squad and also have Corey Clement on the practice squad, too.

However, Keaontay Ingram is expected to be back after a two-game hiatus according to Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon.

"I'm excited for them, honestly. You gotta be ready to go when your number's called and we'll get Keaontay back here this week, so we'll see how he does this week -excited for him too."

Ingram was out with a neck injury.

When healthy, Ingram was the clear RB2 to Conner, though after Demercado's recent performance and the other mix of running backs in Arizona, it's unclear how the Cardinals will move forward with their rushing attack.

"Whoever we have up playing, they'll get their touches and kind of go from there. But he [Demercado] has done a good job," said Gannon.

It will be difficult for the Cardinals to replace Conner's production on the ground, as he was one of the NFL's leading rushers heading into Week 5 prior to his injury while averaging over five yards per carry.

Arizona has done a strong job of establishing the run, so it will be interesting to see how they approach their newfound question mark in the backfield.

The Cardinals face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 6.
