Cardinals, 49ers Could Miss Big Names in Week 15
ARIZONA -- After three days of practice, the Arizona Cardinals released their Friday injury report with official game statuses for Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers:
OUT - Bobby Price (quad), Tyreke Smith (NIR-Travel)
Price practiced all week on a limited basis while Smith was just signed to the team today. You can read more about the transaction here.
QUESTIONABLE - Krys Barnes (ribs), Marquise Brown (heel), Blake Gillikin (back), Geoff Swaim (back), Elijah Wilkinson (neck), Michael Wilson (neck)
Swaim only practiced today after missing Wednesday/Thursday. Brown was a DNP on Wednesday but participated the last two days. Wilkinson was upgraded to full on Friday while all other players practiced on a limited basis throughout the week.
The likes of Emari Demercado (neck), Antonio Hamilton (groin), Kyler Murray (thumb), Kevin Strong (knee), Starling Thomas (ankle) and Jalen Thompson (toe) were removed from the report and should be good to go against the 49ers.
It's always a concern when your starting quarterback appears on the list, though there wasn't much worry on Murray's right thumb.
"No, he's good to go," said Jonathan Gannon today. "Honestly probably a little more maintenance, truthfully."
Brown hasn't missed a game yet for Arizona but has been a constant on the injury report. It sounds like the Cardinals expect him to be out there:
"When we find him he normally catches it," Gannon said before Friday's practice. "He's made plays for us all throughout the year. With the passing game he's one of the guys that the ball goers through so he'll be out there today and looking forward to him making explosive plays for us."
Fellow wideout in Michael Wilson had a good week of practice:
"He's had a good week here, he'll pick up right where he left off," Gannon said. Wilson has also been dealing with a shoulder injury that's kept him out for multiple weeks.
The Cardinals are fresh off their bye week following a Week 13 road win over the Pittsburgh Steelers while the 49ers approach Sunday having won their last five games. A win for San Francisco would clinch the NFC West for the second time in three years.
The 49ers ruled five players out ahead of Sunday: Arik Armstead (foot/knee), Oren Burks (knee), Ross Dwelley (ankle), Javon Hargrave (hamstring) and Elijah Mitchell (knee).
Four more players are questionable in Aaron Banks (hip), Spencer Burford (knee), Dre Greenlaw (hip/ankle) and Charvarius Ward (groin).
Official inactives will be released 90 minutes before kickoff, which is set for 2:05 PM Arizona time on Sunday.
