James Conner Out; Marquise Brown to Play vs. 49ers
The Arizona Cardinals will head into the final week of the regular season without their top rusher in RB James Conner (knee/shin", according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Kingsbury met with reporters after the team's final practice of the week on Friday and confirmed that Conner - who had found the end zone in six consecutive weeks prior to Week 17 - wouldn't be available as they prepare to battle the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
Conner finishes his season with 782 rushing yards (4.3 YPC) and seven touchdowns on the ground with 46 receptions, 300 yards and one touchdown as a receiver.
Kingsbury said the Cardinals plan utilizing both Corey Clement and Keaontay Ingram.
"We'll get both guys going. I thought Corey did a nice job last week. He's picked up the system quick and then obviously Key [Ingram] has been here and continues to progress," said Kingsbury, who also confirmed Ty'Son Williams would likely see some action as well.
LB Zaven Collins (calf) also doesn't look good for Sunday.
"Day-to-day but doesn't look good, I would say. He's not trending the right way as of today," Kingsbury told reporters.
In brighter news, Cardinals QB David Blough should have Marquise Brown to target after the team ruled DeAndre Hopkins (knee) out earlier this week. Brown initially injured his wrist late in the loss to Atlanta but has been a full participant all week.
Kingsbury also said RT Kelvin Beachum is "moving that way" in terms of his availability after being asked about Brown, giving hope that he would push through his knee/ankle injury for yet another week.
Friday's practice report is expected to be released later today, as we'll learn the game statuses (out, questionable) for Sunday.
