Kyler Murray Offers Words of Wisdom to C.J. Stroud
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals couldn't quite mount a Week 11 comeback against the Houston Texans in what was a back-and-forth game at NRG Stadium.
Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud and veteran Kyler Murray exchanged blows throughout the four quarters before the Texans hung on to a 21-16 victory. Both passers turned the ball over while also offering a few splash plays for the film room, too.
After the game, the two quarterbacks found each other before Murray shared some words to Stroud. It's a bit tough to hear the entire conversation but you can hear Murray say "continue to be you" a handful of times:
Murray was asked about the interaction when speaking with reporters:
“Yeah. I mean, win or lose, obviously I was hoping to be able to talk to him [C.J. Stroud] just because he's a young guy and I'm happy to see what he's doing. But just to be able to share that moment, obviously, it's cool. Wish we would've won the game, but I'm happy to see the success he's having," said Murray.
Stroud finished the day with 336 passing yards and two touchdowns on the day. He's a favorite to win the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Leading into this week, Murray made it clear he's a fan of the No. 2 overall pick:
“I love it. To see what he’s doing, man, it’s like I said, I love it. For fellow African American quarterback to be doing what he’s doing at this level, especially in his rookie year, it’s impressive. If you love the game, if you really love the art and the detail of the position— he’s playing it the right way. He’s obviously leading those guys. They believe in him, and they trust him so I’m proud of him. I’m excited to see his career.”
