ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals again will not have Marquise Brown in their lineup, confirmed by Jonathan Gannon this morning. He will be placed on injured reserve, effectively ending his season.

"I'll let you guys know, Hollywood, we're going to put on IR. Just hasn't been able to kind of overcome what he's got going on so it's best thing for him, best thing for us, we're gonna put him on IR," Gannon told reporters.

The Cardinals' No. 1 receiver is still dealing with a heel injury that's been plaguing him for weeks now, though he's only officially missed one game this year.

He hasn't practiced all week and missed one day last week before being limited in the other two.

Brown has also dealt with a thumb, hamstring and illness this season.

Weeks ago, Gannon said he was concerned about Brown's heel:

"I am. I am. I mean it's been going on for a little bit and he's trying to grind through. He's a warrior, and we need him. But if he can't go, he can't go. Obviously that hurts us because he's a good player. So I just make sure we're doing a good job during the week and getting them ready to get to Sunday."

Brown has caught 51 of his 101 targets for 574 yards and four touchdowns.

Michael Wilson now is expected to slide into the No. 1 role.

Brown will now look to enter the 2024 offseason as a free agent.

The Cardinals take on the Philadelphia Eagles this week.
