INDIANAPOLIS -- The Arizona Cardinals are doing their due diligence on plenty of prospects here at the 2023 NFL Combine, and while top prospects such as Jalen Carter and Will Anderson will be under the microscope more than others for the third overall pick. the Cardinals also have six other rounds to add talent to their football team.

With four out of five starting offensive linemen departing the Cardinals in free agency, Arizona will undoubtedly see some roster turnover - especially in the trenches.

Minnesota Golden Gophers OL John Michael Schmitz is a favorite to go somewhere in the range of late first/early second in the 2023 NFL Draft. With Arizona possessing the No. 35 pick (third in the second round), the Cardinals could very well find themselves ready to inject some youth into their offensive line.

Speaking at the combine, Schmitz said he had a formal interview with the Cardinals. In the video below, he also touches on his versatility and why he's the best OL in the draft:

Rodney Hudson, Justin Pugh, Kelvin Beachum and Will Hernandez are the four starters who could potentially leave Arizona in just over a week when free agency starts.

In our preview of the Senior Bowl earlier in the offseason, Schmitz was one of five players highlighted by Andrew Harbaugh:

"The top-ranked interior linemen for many, myself included, should have a field day at the Senior Bowl. After a decorated career at Minnesota, he now is set to make an impact in the NFL and it all starts this week in Mobile. If he were to end up a Cardinal we are looking at the type of impact Landon Dickerson had on the Eagles or Creed Humphrey on the Chiefs. He may be a center but when you see a growing focus on interior defensive line pressure, they can be lifesavers."

The Cardinals are doing their homework on a strong interior offensive lineman who could be available in the early stages of Day 2.
