Cardinals Not Concerned on Kyler's Thumb Injury
ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has appeared on both injury reports this week with a thumb injury, though coach Jonathan Gannon said the franchise passer will be good to go this week when the team plays host to the San Francisco 49ers.
"No, he's good to go," said Gannon. "Honestly probably a little more maintenance, truthfully."
Murray has been listed as a full participant both Wednesday/Thursday and will likely carry the same status today, when players injured must have designations such as questionable, doubtful and out.
Murray was one of 13 Cardinals on the injury report, and all but tight end Geoff Swaim have practiced at least once in limited capacity.
Cardinals-49ers Injury Report: Marquise Brown Returns
Murray is 2-2 since returning as a starter following his long absence from rehabbing a torn ACL/meniscus. In his four games played, Murray has completed nearly 61% of his passes for 864 yards, three passing touchdowns and two interceptions with three more touchdowns coming on the ground with his legs.
Awaiting him and the rest of his teammates at State Farm Stadium will be a red-hot 49ers squad, one that Murray is quite fond of.
"Obviously, they’ve got great players all over the field. Rotating out D-linemen on the field. They’ve got a ton of guys over there, more than probably anybody in the league. And we know, since I got into the league it’s been like that. I’m not going to say I’m used to it, but we’ve got to be ready for a war," he said.
"I know they’re not going to come in here and take us lightly, especially after last game we played them pretty good, but like I said, man, it’s a great opportunity. You’re playing probably against the best defense in the league. For me, and for everybody on this offense we should go out there with a chip on our shoulder and go out there and be ready to execute.”
Official inactives will be released 90 minutes prior to game time, though it appears the Cardinals should have nothing to worry about when it comes to their franchise quarterback.
