Cardinals Release First Injury Report vs Commanders
TEMPE -- It's been a fairly notable day for Arizona Cardinals news.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport was the first to report Josh Dobbs would be named the starting quarterback for Arizona's Week 1 battle with the Washington Commanders, beating out rookie passer Clayton Tune in the process.
The first injury report for Arizona was also released today. Kelvin Beachum (hand), Marquise Brown (hamstring) and Zach Ertz (knee) were limited while Dennis Gardeck (knee) was a full participant.
All 53 players on the active roster were spotted on the practice field today in Arizona.
Kyler Murray continues to be on the PUP list, which he'll be eligible to be removed from after the first four weeks of the season. The Cardinals play the Commanders, New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers in that time span.
Ertz himself was removed from the PUP list during the preseason but still didn't know if he would be playing in Week 1.
"I have to earn the trust of my teammates and coaches," Ertz said to reporters previously.
"I don't expect them to just plug me in there, 'This is the Zach from the past 10 years and he'll be the same in Year 11.' I work to prove myself every day. Whether it's Game 1 or Game 3, when I am out there I expect myself to be a difference-maker."
The Commanders got a big jump with Terry McLaurin and Chase Young returning to practice today. Both suffered minor injuries in the preseason and their availabilities were unknown heading into the game week.
Dax Milne was a non-participant and Benjamin St.-Juste was a full participant for Washington.
Game statuses are due on Friday with inactives being reported 90 minutes before game time on Sunday. Cardinals-Commanders is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Arizona time.
