Cardinals Sign Former Patriots LB

The Arizona Cardinals continue bulking up the defensive side of the ball.

ARIZONA -- A reported fourth outside signing is coming to the Arizona Cardinals, and it's another defensive player.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Cardinals are signing former New England Patriots LB Mack Wilson.

"Source: Former #Patriots LB Mack Wilson has agreed to terms with the #AZCardinals on a 3-year, $12.75M deal worth up to $15M. More help on defense."

Wilson just turned 26 years old and arrived to the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He spent three years in Cleveland before being traded to New England in 2022.

He played all 17 games for the Patriots in each of the last two seasons with four total starts. In 2023, Wilson accrued 37 total tackles with 3.5 sacks to his name - all of said sacks came in the final five games.

New England reportedly tried to retain Wilson on a three-year deal and is heralded as one of the top coverage linebackers with a 86.9 PFF Coverage Grade in 2023.

He also contributed often on special teams for the Patriots.

The Cardinals have been in search of a certified running mate next to Kyzir White in Arizona's defense. They've got it now with Wilson, though he did play a lot of edge for New England towards the end of 2023.

Arizona has also signed CB Sean Murphy-Bunting, DL Justin Jones and DT Bilal Nichols today.
