Cardinals 'Team to Watch' for Steelers WR

The Arizona Cardinals could be a team to monitor for Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson.
In this story:

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are in the market for a wide receiver, and perhaps their next acquisition sits on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steelers WR Diontae Johnson is reportedly on the trade block, and one Steelers insider believes the Cardinals are a team to watch for his services.

"Source says team to watch in the Diontae Johnson trade conversation: Arizona Cardinals. Cardinals have 11 draft picks. 6 in 1st 3 round. 3 3rd round picks. $56 million in cap space," wrote Andrew Fillipponi on Twitter/X.

"Hollywood Brown is a FA. Could trade 3rd for Johnson. Extend him. And draft Marvin Harrison Jr."

The Cardinals indeed are set to lose Marquise Brown to free agency and currently have wide receivers in Michael Wilson and Rondale Moore on the roster. Arizona tendered Greg Dortch but the wideout has yet to sign it, though Dortch now can't negotiate with another team.

Johnson entered the league as a third-round pick in 2019 and has been somewhat inconsistent during his time in Pittsburgh. For everything notable about Johnson (route-running), issues such as drops and sometimes effort (pointed out by fans) has been major talking points in the Steel City.

More from All Steelers' Noah Strackbein:

"It's unknown what the Steelers would be able to get for Johnson. After the Cleveland Browns acquired Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos for a fifth-round pick, it seems like the market may be going in the wrong direction, but if Pittsburgh could land a selection high enough, they may make the move and look to add another starter through free agency or the NFL Draft."

The Cardinals are favored to take a receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft.
