Cardinals Trading Josh Dobbs to Vikings
ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals are sending Josh Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings, according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the Cardinals are sending Dobbs and a seventh-round pick to Minnesota for a sixth-round pick.
The Cardinals recently benched Dobbs after eight games starting at quarterback. Arizona head coach Jonathan Gannon initially told reporters on Sunday after the Week 8 loss to the Baltimore Ravens that Dobbs would be the starter moving forward, though he greeted reporters with a different message yesterday:
"Just real quick - talked on the quarterbacks this morning. We're gonna keep ramping up Kyler [Murray] and see how he progresses through the week. If it's not Kyler then it's gonna be Clayton Tune," said Gannon.
"I've talked to all three quarterbacks and [we're all] on the same page on how we're gonna operate moving forward. I look forward to having a good week of prep. Cleveland, two-day trip, try to go get a win."
Dobbs threw for 1,569 yards and 8 TD to 5 INT as Arizona's quarterback. The Cardinals finished 1-7 under his duration as a starter.
The Cardinals are awaiting the return of Kyler Murray from a torn ACL/meniscus suffered last season. Tune is expected to start against the Cleveland Browns while Murray closes his 21 day practice window.
After acquiring him at the end of preseason play, the Cardinals are sending Dobbs to Minnesota to help replace Kirk Cousins after he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. Jaren Hall is another option for the 4-4 Vikings.
