Former Cardinals QB Wins NFL Player of the Week Award

Joshua Dobbs is already killing it in his new role.

ARIZONA -- Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs has won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week award after his performance for the Minnesota Vikings.

Dobbs - moved to Minnesota at last week's trade deadline - replaced an injured Jaren Hall and marched the Vikings to a clutch win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9. He combined for 224 yards (66 rushing) and three total touchdowns (one coming on the ground) with a 101.8 passer rating.

He had no reps in practice with his new team while barely knowing the playbook and names of his fellow teammates.

According to the league's release, Dobbs became the first quarterback in NFL history to score three combined rushing/passing touchdowns in back to back weeks with two different teams.

This was Dobbs' first NFL Player of the Week honor and joined Sam Bradford/Kirk Cousins as the third Vikings passer to win the award in the last decade. He also became the second University of Tennessee Volunteers quarterback to earn those honors by joining Peyton Manning, who won the award a mere 27 times.

Dobbs started the first eight games for Arizona but led the team to 1-7 during his short stint as a starter. He was initially acquired ahead of the regular season via trade from the Cleveland Browns. Dobbs became the second quarterback in NFL history (joining Baker Mayfield) to start for three teams in one calendar year.

The Cardinals hope to get Kyler Murray back on the field for Week 10's action against the Atlanta Falcons. He was officially activated from PUP earlier this week.
