J.J. Watt Shuts Down Rumors of Potential Return

The Arizona Cardinals - or any other team for that matter - will not see J.J. Watt return to the football field.

Former Arizona Cardinals DE J.J. Watt is well on his way to Canton after retiring this offseason. He'll have to wait five years after not playing in order to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

That clock is now ticking, though there were some rumors Watt could push that back for a season with a potential return to the NFL.

Appearing on an episode of Barstool's Pardon My Take, Watt shot down any rumors of coming back to the league thanks to his physical conditioning.

“For me to play this season, I would have to be training right now and my body, if I went out there to play right now, it would not perform. I haven’t run since the last game of the season. So like, I could not physically do it," said Watt.

When it comes to potentially joining a broadcast booth, Watt said he's given some thought to it.

“I would like to at least give it a shot, I want to be around the game. I love the game too much," said Watt.

"I want to be around the game. I want to be a part of it and I do feel like I have knowledge and experience that can help enhance viewers’ experience and talk about things that they might not see or things that I’ve learned over the years.”

A potential return was rooted with the Pittsburgh Steelers to join brothers T.J. and Derek Watt. That isn't coming to fruition.

“The Steelers fans are literally one the best fanbases I’ve ever witnessed in my entire life. Everywhere I go, ‘Hey I love you, but I’m huge Steelers fan. I love your brother. Hey, come to the Steelers. Hey, we’d love you in Pittsburgh.’ It’s unbelievable.”

Watt did say he will be in Pittsburgh to enjoy a game next season, just not as a player.
