Vikings Hire Former Cardinals QB
ARIZONA -- The Minnesota Vikings are hiring former Arizona Cardinals QB Josh McCown to coach quarterbacks, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McCown was brought into the league as a third-round pick in the 2002 NFL Draft, where the Cardinals selected him 81st overall. He started 22 games for Arizona.
McCown spent four seasons with the Cardinals before inking a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions. McCown then spent time with the Oakland Raiders, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans before calling it a career.
He also spent 2010 with the UFL Hartford Colonials. His total NFL numbers include a 23-53 record as a starter, completing 60.2% of passes for 17,731 yards and 98 touchdowns to 82 interceptions.
He appeared in one playoff game with the Eagles in 2019, completing 18-24 passes for 174 yards and no TD/INT on the day.
McCown spent this past season coaching quarterbacks for the Panthers.
The Vikings are unsure if they'll bring quarterback Kirk Cousins back, and there's rumors circulating here in Indianapolis they could try to move ahead for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
