Next Team Odds for DeAndre Hopkins Continue to Sway
We're rapidly approaching training camp, and former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins still doesn't have a home for 2023.
Perhaps that was by design - as Hopkins (31-years-old) probably isn't eager to go through the grueling schedule of training camp practices ahead of the regular season.
However, it's for the best that he gets acclimated to whatever new team he chooses sooner rather than later in order to properly adjust himself to his new system.
Even when Hopkins was on the roster, speculation on where he would next play was fairly loud. After the Cardinals ultimately released him, headlines haven't stopped on potential landing spots.
Not even the mysterious and all-knowing minds of sportsbooks in Las Vegas have a feel for where Hopkins could land, as odds have shifted overnight for who the All-Pro receiver will play for in 2023.
DraftKings Sportsbook highlighted the differences in two teams (Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs):
Titans
Opening Odds (1/12): +3000
Yesterday's Odds (7/14): -125
Today's Odds (7/15): +100
Chiefs
Opening Odds (1/12): +500
Yesterday's Odds (7/14): +225
Today's Odds (7/15): +120
The Titans have been one of the frontrunners to land Hopkins and are just one of two teams to physically have met with him after becoming a free agent - the other team being the New England Patriots.
The Chiefs make sense in terms of Hopkins wanting to battle for a Super Bowl, something he wasn't able to do in either Arizona or Houston. The Buffalo Bills are another squad to monitor, too.
It feels as if Hopkins is ultimately seeking something close to the $19.45 million in salary he was due this season before getting cut, though that was a major deterrent for teams trying to trade for his rights earlier in the offseason.
Kansas City reportedly met with Hopkins prior to the 2023 NFL Draft and almost had a deal in place before Odell Beckham Jr. inked a $15 million contract with the Baltimore Ravens, setting the bar for Hopkins to take no less.
The news figures to happen sometime soon, though it's clear there's no clear direction Hopkins is leaning.
