Report: Aaron Glenn to Receive Second Interview With Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals continue the search for their next head coach, as the team had three interviews lined up for this week: Mika Kafka interviewed with the team on Tuesday, Lou Anarumo followed on Wednesday and Brian Callahan is scheduled to meet with Arizona today.
The Cardinals are taking their time, as they'll either be the fourth or fifth of five teams that entered this offseason with openings at head coach. The Carolina Panthers first hired Frank Reich last week before DeMeco Ryans bolted to Houston and Sean Payton was swooped by Denver earlier this week.
Now, the Cardinals and Colts remain with vacancies, and the two teams may be eying a similar candidate in Lions DC Aaron Glenn.
In addition to having a second interview with Indianapolis today, CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson says the Cardinals are expected to give Glenn another look as well:
Last week on the Pat McAfee Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport listed Glenn as one of three potential candidates to watch for a second interview alongside Brian Flores and Ejiro Evero.
Glenn's assistance in resurrecting Detroit's defense in the second half of the season was a major part of how the Lions nearly ended up in the postseason. The hope with Glenn is his leadership and experience helping (partially) turn Detroit around under HC Dan Campbell can translate in the desert.
The Cardinals missed out on guys such as Reich, Payton and Dan Quinn, yet the next group of candidates are intriguing in their own right. We'll see if either Arizona or Indianapolis pulls the trigger on Glenn as their next guy.
