Report: Cardinals Request to Interview Browns QB Coach Drew Petzing for OC Job
PHOENIX -- On the first official day of the Jonathan Gannon era, the Arizona Cardinals are already getting to work.
When introduced at his first press conference today, Gannon said obtaining an offensive coordinator was the team's top priority, with the next 48 hours expected to bring some names to the forefront.
That's quickly come to fruition.
The Cardinals have reportedly requested to interview Cleveland Browns QB coach Drew Petzing for their vacant offensive coordinator job according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Petzing (who is set to be 36-years-old) first got his start in the league as a football operations intern in Cleveland back in 2013. He then spent some time with the Minnesota Vikings with varying titles on the offensive side of the ball before heading back to Cleveland in 2022.
His name has been frequently tied with Gannon, as Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer first reported the connection over the weekend.
The Cardinals have two weeks until the NFL Combine to scout their potential picks in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. Free agency will also kick off shortly after the combine, and Arizona has 30+ players ready to test the waters.
We'll see if Petzing can land the gig in Arizona and handle the task of successfully orchestrating an offense that will be tailored around Kyler Murray.
