NFL Changes Uniform Policy; Will Allow Third Helmet
ARIZONA -- The NFL is reportedly changing policy to allow teams to carry a third helmet with their uniform combinations.
Per NFL Media's Tom Pelissero:
"The NFL informed clubs today it has revised the uniform policy to allow teams a third helmet design, per source. This expansion was offered to the teams that were going through the re-design process for the 2024 season and is now open to all clubs for the 2025 season."
That's great news for teams looking to really mix things up with their uniforms moving forward.
As of now, teams such as the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Cleveland Browns are reportedly going through new uniform changes for the upcoming season, so all the aforementioned squads will have first dibs on the third helmet capability. All other clubs will carry the option for 2025 and forward.
That means the Cardinals will still use their base white helmet with their road white and home red uniforms with their black helmets for their third alternative look. Some fans have asked for red helmets to be used, though it's unclear how the Cardinals would attack that look (though they'll have a year to plan for that).
Other options have been yellow or desert camo.
Cardinals team reporter Darren Urban doesn't know if Arizona has any plans for a new look after unveiling brand new uniforms last offseason:
