Chargers Meeting With Big TE Prospect for Pre-Draft Visit

The Los Angeles Chargers hold the 5th overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, where they are expected to take either a wide receiver or offensive lineman if they keep the pick. There has also been talk about the Bolts potentially moving down to gain more draft capital.

The Bolts hold eight other picks in the draft, as they look to plug holes all across the roster. One area where the Chargers could look to improve is within the tight end position. The team signed veteran tight end Hayden Hurst in free agency, but he is more seen as a stop-gap option, rather than a long-term one.

As the Bolts search for their draft options, they have been looking at different tight-end prospects. The team even was meeting with Jared Wiley out of TCU, who could end up being a steal by whichever team selects him.

Wiley would be an instant upgrade to the Chargers offensive system. He performed well while with the Horned Frogs last season, posting 47 catches for 520 yards and eight touchdowns.

Standing at six-foot-seven, Wiley would be a massive target for star quarterback Justin Herbert to throw the ball too. He could become a nice red-zone target for Herbert, giving the Bolts a legitimate offensive weapon.

The Bolts are doing their due diligence on multiple prospects, but the interest in Wiley seems real. The Chargers hold pick No. 37 in the second round and pick No. 69 in the third round, so they could bring in some quality talent to the squad.
