Lions vs. Chargers Prediction for Sunday, 11/12
Both of these squads have playoff hopes, so it goes without saying that this is a crucial matchup. Coming off a bye this past week, Detroit and QB Jared Goff have boasted one of the best offenses in the NFL so far. For LA, they started the season slow but have since rebounded, including back-to-back wins.
On primetime last Monday night, the Bolts defense recorded eight sacks against the Jets. They probably won’t reach that number in this one, but they should be able to slow down the Lions’ offense by pressuring Goff. This would, obviously, be a big step towards coming out victorious.
With Justin Herbert at QB, the Chargers are averaging about 25 points per game. Between his weapons like Keenan Allen on the outside and Austin Ekeler in the backfield, this offense can hang with the best of them. Their pass defense, however, hasn’t lived up to expectations coming into the campaign; they actually rank worst in the league entering Week 10.
However, if Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa can keep up their extraordinary play like they did against New York, points may be hard to come by for the Lions. This should be a back-and-forth type of game, and being able to lay a field goal with the home team is our top Lions vs. Chargers prediction. Nab LA +3 (-115 at DraftKings).
Lions vs. Chargers Player Props & Picks Featuring Aidan Hutchinson & Justin Herbert
As far as our Lions vs. Chargers player props go, they actually coincide with one another quite well. Detroit owns the third-best rushing defense in the NFL, allowing just 76.8 yards per game. Los Angeles, meanwhile, sports the league’s 21st-ranked rushing attack on offense, amassing just 101.1 yards on the ground per outing. So, LA’s offensive philosophy should be clear in this one: throw the football.
This sounds great in theory, but it also allows an All-Pro candidate in Aidan Hutchinson more chances to wreak havoc in their backfield. Hutch has 4.5 sacks on the season but has been held without one in each of the last three games. He’s due for a big game, and with the Chargers probably needing to throw more often, we’ll take him to record over 0.75 sacks (-135 at DraftKings) here.
With all the passing expected, what does this mean for Herbert? His passing attempts prop is currently set at 35.5, which is too low in our eyes. He’s bested this number in half of their contests this campaign, and their run game may get shut down even more so than it was in those matchups. With that being said, the final of all possible Lions vs. Chargers player props we like lands with Herbert over 35.5 (-140 at DraftKings) pass attempts.
