Should Chargers call Bears about trade deadline deal for OL?
The Los Angeles Chargers have a lot of options if they decide to make some moves before Tuesday's trade deadline. The team could use depth at wide receiver, the defensive line, and the secondary. However, there's one unit that must get stronger if this team wants to be a viable threat in the AFC West.
The offensive line needs work. 2024 first-round draft pick Joe Alt was a great start in building a stronger unit. However, it takes more than one player, which is why when the news that the Chicago Bears have made Nate Davis available in trade talks started, the Chargers were instantly linked.
Finding an offensive lineman in the middle of the season feels impossible. However, if Davis is available, it would be hard for the Chargers not to listen. According to ESPN insiders, whoever decides to make a deal for Davis might get some help, with Chicago "willing to eat a chunk of his roughly $5 million in remaining guaranteed salary for the year."
A move for Davis would seem more like patching damage than finding a permanent fix. Davis has started two games for the Bears this season, and he's given up one sack. The former Tennessee Titans selection also has an abysmal grade with PFF, posting a 53.6 overall grade this season.
Would the move even be worth it?
