Chargers News: Best Prop Bets For MNF Cowboys Game
Ahead of your Los Angeles Chargers' Week 6 primetime showdown against the Dallas Cowboys tonight, Gilles Gallant of Action Network takes us through his top two prop bets.
1) Michael Gallup, anytime touchdown scorer - Odds: +350
Gallup is touchdown-less on the season, but Gallant argues that he plays over 80% of snaps, and received 18 targets over his last three games. Because of how great the Chargers offense is, Gallant explains that Dallas will have to throw to keep pace, creating opportunities for a deep threat in Gallup.
From the Chargers' side, they've allowed six touchdowns to receivers, and have allowed the most passing yards in the NFL this season. These factors make for what should be substantive offensive output from Dallas, and Gallup could be a big winner in the process.
Gallant also mentions Brandin Cooks, another Cowboys WR as a solid prop bet, but he's "partial to Gallup."
2) Justin Herbert, anytime touchdown scorer - Odds: +500
Herbert is typically mobile, but rib injuries last season forced him to stay a bit more in the pocket. This year, however, Gallant explains that Herbert has already totaled 3 rushing touchdowns in four games, and has 5 red-zone carries, after only having 6 in the entirety of 2022.
Part of this could be schematic, as the transition from Offensive Coordinator Joe Lombardi to Kellen Moore has opened the door to more running from Herbert. Between this and his health, it's easy to foresee a scenario that, across the season, Herbert's rushing stats end up far above expectation.
He also explains that Dallas has allowed the 5th-most rushing yards to quarterbacks this season, which only adds to this prop's value. This is particularly true given Herbert's mobility relative to the other QBs Dallas has faced this season.
While their Week 1 opposing QB, Daniel Jones, is mobile and put up 43 rushing yards, they then faced off against Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Josh Dobbs, and Brock Purdy, none of whom have the athleticism or instincts that Herbert do (Dobbs has the speed, but Herbert is quicker in his reads/decisions).
Overall, these are great value bets that can certainly add to your game-watching experience.
