Chargers News: Latest Update On Justin Herbert's Injured Finger

Will the Pro Bowl QB miss LA's Week 5 matchup in Dallas?
In this story:

Pro Bowl Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert suffered a left finger injury early into the second half of LA's eventual 24-17 home victory over the visiting Las Vegas Raiders (whose vocal fans overwhelmed the relatively scant home crowd). He had to spent extended time in the dreaded blue tent on the field, getting the pesky digit examined.

He did eventually return to the field to help close out the game, with a splint fitted onto a finger on his left hand. Herbert looked a bit shaky for much of the second half, prior to acing an absolute bomb, a 51-yard pass to Joshua Palmer on third and 10, that ultimately put the contest out of reach.

Now, we've gotten some further insights into the status of the finger, and how it could impact the rest of Herbert's 2023 season.

Sources inform Ian Rapoport of NFL.com that the fourth-year signal caller out of Oregon fractured a finger on his (non-throwing) left hand, while also incurring a "gruesome nail injury."

Thanks to a well-timed bye week set for this weekend, Herbert is not expected to miss LA's Week 5 date on October 16th with the Las Vegas Raiders, adds Rhiannon Walker of Yahoo Sports.
