Are The Chargers Targeting Former Ravens Coach Greg Roman As New OC?
New Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has wasted no time cleaning house.
In adding/recommending new pieces both on the sidelines next to him and in the Bolts' revamped front office, Harbaugh seems to be bringing in personnel from two primary sources: his most recent coaching stop, the reigning College Football Playoff champion University of Michigan Wolverines, and his brother John's longtime team, the Baltimore Ravens, who fell just short of returning to their second Super Bowl during John's reign in losing 17-10 to the Kansas City Chiefs during the AFC Conference Championships last Sunday.
Now, it appears Jim Harbaugh is looking to poach another piece from his brother's squad. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports that Los Angeles may consider bringing on Greg Roman, a former offensive coordinator for the Ravens, Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, to steer LA's new-look offense.
Roman was named the Associated Press' NFL Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019, during his first season in his current role with Baltimore (he was previously an O line assistant from 2006-07).
Roman, known to generally favor a run-heavy offense during his tenure with the Ravens, resigned following Baltimore's Wild Card round 2023 playoff loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
LA's running backs are fairly lackluster, but with another ex-Ravens leader, ex-Baltimore director of player personnel Joe Hortiz, at the helm of the team's front office, here's hoping the club can revamp its run game this offseason.
