The Los Angeles Chargers assessed many of the positions of need during the NFL draft last weekend. The Bolts needed to add pass catchers, and they did just that by selecting two wide receivers from TCU.

The wide receiver room got stronger; however, many suspected they would improve their tight end room as well. A ton of experts and pundits believed the Chargers would've gotten at a younger tight end in a deep tight end class, but that seemed to never be an option for the Bolts.

Instead, they focused on defense and the offensive line. Chargers GM Tom Telesco praised his tight ends, and head coach Brandon Staley doubled down and said he loves the players he has on his team.

"I think that with Gerald Everett, we know that what we're getting. That guy was a weapon for us," Staley said. "That was a tremendous signing for us last year. As you saw in the playoff game, that guy may have been one of the best players on the field. I thought that he had his best season as a pro for us last year."

It would've been nice to get one of the top TE prospects in the draft, but there was no need when you got someone like Everett. He had a career year with the Bolts, as he had a career-high in almost every category, including targets, receptions, receiving yards, tied for touchdowns and yards per game.

Everett is only 28 years old, and he seemed to be a good fit in the offense, with Herbert dropping him dimes all season long. LA had bigger and better needs in the draft and showed they believe in Gerald.
