It is pretty safe to say that Los Angeles Chargers' 2023 draft haul was defined by speed and TCU stars. Following the conclusion of the 2022 season and those prior, it was pretty clear that even though LA had built a solid offense, they needed some youth and athleticism on their side.

The likes of Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and Keenan Allen have all marked their place in the league already. They've had three seasons playing with Justin Herbert already and the chemistry cannot be touched. However, they are all in their 20's or early 30's and when you look at Herbert, who is just 25-years-old and about to get a huge extension, some younger pieces around him were needed.

Insert Darius Davis, who is coming off a 2022 campaign with TCU that saw him showcase his elite return and pass-catching skills. He came up one spot short of being named the fastest player in the nation and recorded over 500 receiving yards.

Someone like Davis will bring a ton of offensive firepower and energy that LA needs in a comeback season. There will be a ton of space for him to operate when his name is called and it's looking like head coach Brandon Staley is already thrilled to welcome him in.

"Definitely comfortable with him. We drafted him in the fourth round because we really feel like he was one of the top returners in the country," Staley said. "Then, looking at the landscape of both pro and college football, we really felt like this guy is special with the ball in his hands."
