In a perfect world for the majority of Chargers fans, I believe that they would prefer for the franchise to select Bijan Robinson with their 21st pick.

There really isn't a ton of arguments against LA doing so if he happens to still be on the board once their 21st pick in the first round rolls around. He has clearly established himself as one of the most NFL-ready running backs in the nation thanks to a final season at Texas that saw him post 1,580 yards with 18 touchdowns.

With that being said, it will be music to many people's ears to hear that Robinson is being slated by many to wind up in powder blue once Thursday rolls around. Insiders have been pointing in this direction along with mock draft simulators.

Mock draft simulators have been growing in popularity this offseason, with Chargers GM Tom Telesco even admitting to using them a good amount of time as he ponders which direction his front office should go in. A new report reveals that the highly-touted Texas product gets selected by LA about 16% of the time.

"Texas running back

Bijan Robinson

is the most drafted Chargers player at 16.3%, per PFN MDS data. The Longhorn isn’t just someone who took handoffs and produced back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Austin. He also grabbed 60 career receptions and scored six receiving touchdowns across three seasons."

Why wouldn't the Chargers draft Bijan Robinson?

We'll start off with the most obvious answer to this question with that being he simply may not be available once the Bolts make their selection. He is being hyped up as one of, if not the best, running back options in the entire class and another team may very well take him first.

Then, you also have to factor in the whole Austin Ekeler situation. Both Ekeler and the Chargers haven't spoken more on the matters than necessary and it's looking like at the very least, he'll suit up next season for them.

But both sides have also emphasized that they want to remain working together. Ekeler may view LA drafting Robinson as them preparing to replace him and the relationship could be shattered.
