Chargers' Former All-Pro CB Has No Return Date Following Season-Ending Injury
Fans of the Los Angeles Chargers only got to see five games of JC Jackson before he suffered a terrible injury and fully ruptured his patellar tendon. He was their biggest free agent signing in 2022 and looked to help propel their the squad alongside Khalil Mack.
A ruptured tendon is one of the most serious injuries an athlete could go through and the recovery has proven to be a tough, slow process. It is no different with Jackson but he has taken to social media multiple times recently and showed off his progress in his rehab workouts.
LA's head coach Brandon Staley has been vocal in the past about how he still wants Jackson to play a big role within the organization once he returns. Back in 2021 when he was fully healthy with the New England Patriots, he suited up in 17 games and recorded 58 tackles.
Fans were hoping to hear some good news regarding the the 27-year-old's comeback and hopefully hear a return date when Staley participated in media coverage at the NFL owner's meetings. However, we didn't receive much more than we already knew.
"Staley said there remains “no timeline” on J.C. Jackson’s return from a ruptured patellar tendon: “As we get close to springtime, OTAs, practices, we’ll be able to tell you more.” (Via Daniel Popper of The Athletic)
Hopefully once the rest of the Chargers' organization gets rolling with preseason workouts and meetings, we'll get a more clear answer as to when we'll see our starting cornerback in the lineup again.
I have nothing but respect for Jackson and, much like the majority of the fanbase, cannot wait to see how he fits in this squad when healthy. Most players after securing a big contract like he did would probably take it easy and not be too motivated like before. However, he appears to be putting in overtime trying to get back on the gridiron and return better than ever.
