It is barely the beginning of the week and Justin Herbert's name has been flying all over the news.

However, it is not because he's been cleared for full-contact following an offseason surgery nor because he has been granted a massive extension with the Los Angeles Chargers. It is because Jalen Hurts is the first out this new crop of quarterbacks to sign a new contract with his squad.

The Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off of a Super Bowl appearance, granted hurts a five-year deal worth $255 million. Chargers fans saw this and immediately called to question when it would Herbert's time.

Today would've been the perfect time to announce any sort of update on these talks considering that LA started their offseason program but head coach Brandon Staley did not provide anything on Herbert's potential contract.

In fact, he went as far to say that they are private matters within the team.

"As for the Herbert contract extension, Staley said: "No updates. We're going to keep those negotiations private."

It looks like that Jalen Hurts deal did not propel LA's front office to get Herbert's done immediately.
