The Chargers lost on Monday Night Football against a tough Dallas Cowboys team 20-17.

Unfortunately the team did not walk away completely healthy as second year safety Raheem Layne suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the rest of the season.

Layne signed as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has been with the Chargers since, making 11 appearances in his career.

The young safety mostly appeared on special teams playing about 53% of the special team snaps in his 11-game career.

Layne was working into a bigger defensive role playing 22% of the snaps in the 5 games this season so this injury will definitely leave a hole that the Chargers team will need to fill.

On the season, Layne had 3 solo tackles with 2 tackles assists mostly playing on special teams.

The Chargers loss on Monday night was a disappointing one as many mental errors or poor execution was shown on national TV. Star quarterback, Justin Herbert, took full accountability after the game about his missed throws that could have changed the course of the game.

The Chargers will now have a shortened week before their Week 7 matchup against the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs.

A division rivalry matchup tends to always be a close hard fought game and with the way the Chargers have flashed potential, that locker room is heading into this week looking to shock the world and beat the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
