Chargers Injury Report: 2 Starters Sit Out Tuesday Practice
Your 5-9 Los Angeles Chargers aren't exactly trying to field a full roster these days.
With three games left on the docket to tank, it appears the Bolts are taking it easy when it comes to making their starters exert themselves during practice days. Star quarterback Justin Herbert is already done for the year, after undergoing a surgical procedure to address a right index finger fracture.
Per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen and starting left cornerback Deane Leonard did not partake in the club's first practice of the week today, as Los Angeles under new (interim) head coach Giff Smith preps for a bout against the 7-6 Buffalo Bills, who still have their Day 1 head coach and Pro Bowl quarterback and continue to actually play for something.
Both Allen and Leonard sat out with heel injuries.
Allen, 32, is in the midst of another Pro Bowl-courting season, despite his team apparently destined for a top draft pick and an abysmal finish in the AFC standings. Across 13 games, he's notched 108 receptions on 150 targets for totals of 1,243 yards (averaging 11.5 per) and seven touchdowns.
Leonard, a second-year six-footer out of Ole Miss, has only appeared in nine contests this season. He's logged 26 total tackles (20 solo) and three passes deflected.
