Chargers Injury Report: Keenan Allen Departs Lions Game With Shoulder Issue
Following a third-down reception during an eventually successful, game-tying touchdown march against the Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen suffered an apparent left shoulder injury.
It's unclear if he'll be able to rejoin the club today, per attendant sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson of CBS.
Here's the play:
The 4-4 Chargers will now have to lean on Jalen Guyton and rookies Quentin Johnston and Derius Davis to a perhaps uncomfortable degree, as they hope to improve to a record above .500 for the first time this season, against the heavily favored 6-2 Lions.
Detroit's high-octane offense has already yielded another touchdown, courtesy of running back Amon-Ra St. Brown, since Allen went out. The Lions currently lead 31-24 with 4:31 remaining in the third quarter. St. Brown has amassed seven catches for a total of 144 yards, including one touchdown.
Allen briefly returned from the team's blue medical tent and back onto the field for Los Angeles later in the frame. Thus far today, Allen paces the Chargers' receivers (as he should, frankly) with 10 receptions, on 13 targets, for 137 total yards and one touchdown.
He quickly left the game once again, this time making for LA's locker room for further analysis.
UPDATE:
Allen returned, to act as a decoy for Lions defenders, so that Quentin Johnston could run in a game-tying touchdown.
