The entire NFL world, and especially Chargers fans, have had the pleasure of watching Justin Herbert showcase his skills for the past three seasons. He burst onto the scene and immediately served as the perfect quarterback for premier receivers in Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.

However, we've also been seeing the load that he has to carry on the offensive side and it probably isn't sustainable. Especially with Austin Ekeler, who was a primary target for Herbert in 2022, not being confirmed to be a part of the roster next season the Bolts will have to figure out new schemes.

Luckily for them, they have a brand new offensive coordinator coming in by the name of Kellen Moore. He served in this position previously for the Dallas Cowboys and saw great success.

The Athletic's Ted Nguyen and Daniel Popper discussed exactly what positives Moore will bring to the table as he enters his first season with LA.

"If the

Chargers

can cobble together a respectable running game with multiple tight ends on the field, Moore could create downfield mismatches for

Gerald Everett

, Donald Parham or a rookie tight end."

The draft could be a gold mine for the Chargers in this area. Moore should definitely play a big role in deciding who LA selects early on and bring in someone that could help them with these mismatches.

A good balance of running plays with passing plays will be the most important factor in allowing Herbert to not burn out during the season.

"The Chargers were a very effective play-action team under Lombardi, ranking seventh in EPA per dropback on early-down play-action over his two seasons. What is not taken into account is how a fine-tuned marriage of run and pass can also create opportunities in the running game. That is what was missing for the Chargers last season."

LA has a generational talent on their hands and them bringing in Moore is already a great sign of maximizing his longevity,.
