Your Los Angeles Chargers are gearing up for their Week 2 preseason matchup against the New Orleans Saints after a dominating Week 1 win against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Week 1 one wasn't all that, but there were some bright spots for the Bolts, including undrafted running back Elijah Dotson

Dotson was one of the Week 1 preseason darlings in the entire league, exploding for 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Here's the second one below.

The surprise game by Dotson led to the release of running back Larry Rountree. Dotson now has a prime position to crack the running back spot if he can exceed expectations.

It may be an uphill battle, at least according to Chargers insider Daniel Popper. Popper believes he is a fringe player at the moment.

But Dotson just had a

breakout performance

in the preseason opener against the Rams, leading the Chargers with 92 rushing yards and two touchdowns on six carries. He is firmly on my roster bubble now. And he could certainly make the 53-man if he strings together more quality performances over the final six practices and, more importantly, the two remaining preseason games.

Dotson will surely have some time to shine against the Saints this Sunday.

Once again, the starters will sit this one out, and it will allow other fringe players like Elijah to shine.

It will be tough to replicate that type of performance, but he will sure get a ton of reps, and with Kellen Moore leading the way, he could get a ton of touches.

Could the undrafted player make some noise like another similar undrafted Chargers running back? We may be getting ahead of ourselves, but we'll see.
