Chargers Insider Provides Status of Injured LA Wide Receiver

A positive sign for LA wide receiver room

The injuries piled up for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2022, and it came like a vicious hurricane that was not kind. It started early in the season, and it happened often. One of the first injuries they suffered earlier in 2022 was wide receiver Jalen Guyton

Guyton suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home, and that was the end of his season right there. He's been working his butt off to get back on the field, and he's made significant progress before their preseason match against the New Orleans Saints.

Chargers insider Jeff Miller said Guyton was on the field for the first time doing some light running.

Guyton has yet to practice with the team during training camp as he remains on the PUP list (physically unable to perform).

This would be Guyton's fifth season in the league, all with the Chargers after going undrafted in 2019 and spending some time with the Dallas Cowboys before signing with LA in the middle of the 2019 season.

The 26-year-old has been a solid pickup for LA, as he's collected 61 receptions for 1023 yards, six touchdowns, and a catch percentage of 56.

He's only been able to play in 38 games through four seasons, but hopefully, that all changes once he recovers from his ACL. He will have some stiff competition for the wide receiver three role, with Joshua Plamer and rookie Quentin Johnston, set to battle for that spot.

Nonetheless, LA has a ton of weapons at its disposal, and any of them can make an impact week in and week out.

This is an excellent sign for Guyton; hopefully, we will see him in 2023.
