Chargers Legend Believes The Bolts Are Super Bowl Contenders
The 2023 NFL season is almost upon us. The schedule releases on Thursday, and the Bolts have high aspirations for this season. The Chargers ended their season in the worst way possible in 2022 and will look to redeem themselves in 2023.
LA has the talent and pieces to get the job done, and one of the greatest tight ends and a former Charger, Antonio Gates, believes in the Bolts. Gates told TMZ Sports that the Chargers are Super Bowl contenders this season.
"When you think about a Super Bowl contending team, you think about the quarterback position, and we got one of the best in the league. You talk about upgrading that defense, and that's what you see. To me, those are recipes to winning a Super Bowl, it starts with the quarterback, and you see the upgrade on that defense that wins football games in the postseason."
Chargers QB Justin Herbert is one of the league's brightest and most talented quarterbacks. The Chargers will go as far as he leads them. He must take his game to another level if the Chargers want to be considered Super Bowl contenders. It all starts and ends with the 25-year-old.
As for the defense, LA certainly did what they could to upgrade it and get pieces in the draft that fit their personnel. LA has the star power led by Joey Bosa, Khalil Mack, and Derwin James. The defense was disappointing last season, and they will look to redeem themselves come September.
A lot will be riding on the Bolts this season; we'll see how they respond.
