Chargers News: 2 Bears Defenders Hurt In 3rd Quarter, Tremaine Edmunds Exits Game
While trying to stop the figurative damage your Los Angeles Chargers have been inflicting on them all night, a pair of Chicago Bears defenders each got hurt covering quick-footed Bolts wide receiver Derius Davis.
Per Brad Biggs of The Chicago Tribune, veteran Bears linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and rookie defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. both got hurt on the same play early in the third quarter of a game LA leads 27-7.
Biggs adds that Edmunds, after staying down for an uncomfortably long time, had to depart the game, moving slowly, to get examined by the Bolts' medical staff. He appeared to hurt his right knee on the play.
For his part, Dexter was benched immediately, though he remained on the field. Chicago can ill afford to lose anyone else, given that it's already bringing a litany of injuries (ahem) to bear tonight as it essentially fights for its season.
Experts already feel that the Bears have basically punched their ticket for the Caleb Williams Bowl, whether or not they'd like to admit that to themselves, thanks to their miserable performance this year (and the possession of the Carolina Panthers' unprotected No. 1 draft pick).
