Wow, just when it looked like the Chargers had fallen out of the DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes, they have a good chance to snag him once again.

There were rumors flying around all offseason that the All-Pro wide receiver and the Arizona Cardinals were looking to part ways with one another. Even though Hopkins put together a 2022 campaign that saw him snag 64 passes and record over 700 yards, Arizona had one of their worst seasons in years.

Hopkins had been sending mixed signals as of late as he came out himself and acted like he had no idea why people thought he wanted to leave the franchise. On the flip side, he also revealed that he would love to play with Justin Herbert among other top QB's in the NFL.

Well, Hopkins is now a free agent and after so many months of being linked to potentially being traded to the Los Angeles Chargers, he has the opportunity to do so without LA having to trade anything.

The news was first shared by Adam Schefter.

"DeAndre Hopkins now becomes a free agent and instead of being traded, can sign anywhere he wants."

The big question here would obviously be how would Hopkins fit into LA's offense and payroll if he does throw on a powder blue uniform this year. The Chargers' front office would have to make the tough decision of possibly moving on from their veterans in Keenan Allen or Mike Williams and also probably stunt the growth of rookie Quentin Johnston.

However, the Bolts want to win a Super Bowl and in order to do that, they need to get Justin Herbert as many weapons as possible. Hopkins is still an elite WR option and could be the missing piece for a Chargers squad looking to prove the NFL world wrong this year.
