Look, most of the remaining free agents still left looking for a squad are doing so for a reason. A ton of them that have been linked to your Los Angeles Chargers are at points in their career where they have fallen off to a certain extent and have to prove they can still perform on a winning team.

However, at 30-years-old, DeAndre Hopkins may become available very soon. It is no secret that the Arizona Cardinals have been shopping him for some time now but nobody has been willing to take on his massive contract. He was one their lone bright spots in a season that their quarterback, Kyler Murray, tear his ACL off the jump and multiple coaches get fired.

Hopkins joined the squad after missing the first six games of 2022 and recorded 717 yards on 64 catches and three touchdowns.

Chargers fans may remember that back in January when trade talks were still hot, Hopkins had revealed that LA was at the top of his wishlist for where to play next.

"I'm being told Hopkins prefers to get to go to either the Jaguars or the Chargers. The interesting thing is both of those guys have wide receivers under big contracts, including the Jags and Christian Kirk. But the top two destinations for him [are] Jacksonville to play with [Head Coach Doug] Pederson and [Trevor] Lawrence and then the Chargers obviously with the chance to play with Justin Herbert."

Obviously, the Chargers themselves are in their own rough cap situation and wouldn't be able to trade for that contract. However, what if they could give him a brand-new, smaller contract?

New reports have surfaced that the Cardinals could look to release him and he would then hit the open market.

"Update: NFL teams think that the Cardinals will release WR DeAndre Hopkins."

This will ultimately all come down to whether or not Arizona choose to let him go but LA has made it clear they want all the offensive targets they can get for Justin Herbert.
