Your Los Angeles Chargers have blocked the Chicago Bears from interviewing offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. The Bears had requested to speak with Moore about their open OC position, but the Chargers prevented the interview from happening, via ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

The Bears were on the hunt for an offensive coordinator after firing Luke Getsy following the 2023 season. Though the Bears' offense improved throughout the year, they could not improve enough for Getsy to keep his job. The Bears have moved on from the blocked interview, and are working to hire Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, via Tom Pelissero.

Blocking Moore from interviewing elsewhere would seem to indicate that the Chargers want to keep him on their staff. However, it's an interesting choice for the Chargers since they have yet to hire their next head coach. Often, head coaches will choose their own coordinators and staff, but this might indicate that the Chargers intend for Moore to stay on with their next staff.

Moore has served as the Chargers' offensive coordinator for one season now. Before joining Los Angeles, Moore was on the Dallas Cowboys offensive coaching staff for five years, including a four-year run as their offensive coordinator from 2019-2021. During two of those seasons, the Cowboys ranked No. 1 in total offense and No. 2 in passing yards per game. However, the Cowboys and Moore decided to "mutually part ways" after the 2022 campaign, leading to Moore joining the Chargers.

In his first season with the Chargers, Moore's offense ranked 18th in total yards per game and 13th in passing yards per game. Those numbers of course took a little bit of a dip during the final stretch of the year because of Justin Herbert's season-ending injury, but still are not what the Chargers hoped for when pairing Moore with Herbert. However, Moore's track record from his time with the Cowboys could have been enough for Los Angeles to want to retain him going forward.
