Chargers News: Bolts Hit With Horrifically Low Year-End Report Card
Every season the NFLPA releases a report card that details how players feel about their working conditions. These report cards go into depth about subjects like a head coach, weight room, food, and more.
While plenty of teams have great facilities, the Los Angeles Chargers are a bit in limbo. They are currently awaiting the finalization of their new practice facility in El Segundo.
There is a lot of transition happening with the team as well, so it stands to reason that players are not exactly happy with how things are currently.
In fact, according to the NFLPA report card, the Chargers are ranked 30 out of 32 teams in overall grades.
The Chargers got hit hard with "F" grades in Treatment of Families, Food/Cafeteria, and Locker Room.
The "F" for Treatment of Families states:
They provide a family room at the stadium
They provide daycare but not onsite and players have to pay
The team charges $75 for the first child and $50 for each additional child per family
A major complaint from players is that the daycare is not convenient for the families to use and that the team charges players, unlike most of the teams in the NFL
The "F" in Food/Cafteria has the team ranked 32 for "overall food taste" and "overall food freshness."
The "F" in Locker Room has to do with "57% of players feeling like the locker room is big enough."
The better news is the Chargers got a B Nutritionist/Dietician, B for head coach, C+ for Training Staff, and C+ in Ownership.
Jim Harbaugh is now part of this organization, and he aims to turn much of this around. He exclaimed during his press conference that details matter, and this report card is sure to raise some alarms.
Harbaugh referred to the weight room as an "all-you-can-eat buffer," so we imagine he will treat the new facility and the details in the same manner.
There is a lot to address this offseason for the team, and raising their overall grade will need to be attacked quickly.
