Your Los Angeles Chargers are looking far and wide for their open head coaching position. The team is casting a wide net and has begun requesting interviews for the job.

With their miserable 5-12 2023 season over, the biggest priority is to find the right people to lead the Bolts forward. The organization needs to get this hire correct, after multiple seasons of ineptitude.

It seems that the Bolts have added another name to their potential list. That would be current Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

Morris has all the tools to be a successful head coach, but the Chargers may have some deja vu here. They hired former head coach Brandon Staley after leading a solid run with the Rams as their defensive coordinator, and look how that turned out.

Morris took over for Staley after he joined the Chargers, and helped lead them to a Super Bowl title. He knows what it takes to get the best out of players, and he may be the complete opposite of Staley.

Los Angeles may be better off going with a more offensive-minded head coach this time around. This isn't to say Morris isn't a good candidate, or that he would turn out like Staley did.

With quarterback Justin Herbert in the mix, the Chargers are in a prime winning window. They have to find a way to maximize the roster around him, including the head coach.

Ownership has a lot of pressure to get everything right this coming offseason, as they also are looking to hire a new general manager. This franchise can't afford more wasted seasons, making it necessary that they take their time with this process to find the perfect fit.
