Chargers News: Bolts Officially Interview 2-Time CFP Champ OC

No stone left unturned!

Days after first requesting an interview, your Los Angeles Chargers have finally, officially spoken with current Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken about their head coaching vacancy, per Omar Navarro of Chargers.com.

Monken has toggled between the college and NFL games for decades. During his three-year stint with the Georgia Bulldogs from 2020-2022 as the team's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

During his first season with Baltimore this year, the Ravens notched the fourth-most points per game (28.9), led the league in rushing yards per game (156.5), and sixth in total yards per game (370.4).

Pro Bowl Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson, the league's purported MVP frontrunner, submitted potentially his best season thus far. Across 16 contests, he notched a career-best 3,678 passing yards, and as a running quarterback he logged over 800 rushing yards.

On the NFL side, Monken has also enjoyed productive stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (as the club's offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach).

In 2022, Monken was in the running for the Broyles Award, given to the top assistant coach of the season in the college football game. He was a finalist.

It certainly seems like Monken could help cure what ails Justin Herbert and the rest of his team, though that offensive roster around the 6'6" Pro Bowl quarterback has seemed undercooked.
