Chargers News: Bolts Sign Second Former Player to Coaching Staff
The Los Angeles Chargers and Jim Harbaugh continue to add to their already elite coaching staff, and it happens to be another former player.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo announced the Bolts have hired former offensive lineman Nick Hardwick as their new assistant offensive line coach.
Hardwick spent his 11-year career with the then-San Diego Chargers from 2004 to 2014. In his tenure, he was named a Pro Bowler in 2006 and was named to the San Diego Chargers 50th Anniversary Team.
Hardwick's career was short-lived due to serious health concerns, which caused him to retire. The 42-year-old has no coaching experience.
Nonetheless, Harbaugh and the Chargers believe in his abilities and will be a part of this new coaching staff. The former player will be tasked to build an elite offensive line to protect the backfield and, more importantly, superstar quarterback Justin Herbert.
