It is super important that when the clock strikes five today that the Chargers have multiple backup plans just in case their top first round targets get taken. Fans have not been the happiest hearing the news that GM Tom Telesco is open to the possibility that they trade down to the second round and wait for gems to appear there. But it may just be the smart move instead of settling for leftovers.

Jordan Addison and Bijan Robinson are the guys everybody wants and yes, their offense would be very fun to watch if either of them become part of the Bolts. However, they are both two of the top players at their positions in this year's draft class and other franchises with better picks also have their eyes set on them.

Gaining more assets in the process of selling their first-round selection may just be the best option available depending on how everything plays out and Bleacher Report's Alex Kay seems to agree and specifically wants them to make a deal with the Houston Texans.

"The Houston Texans have 11 picks in the 2023 draft—including two in the first round alone—but they may want to package some of those selections up to grab one more blue chip talent on Day 1. Offering the second pick in both the second and third rounds and throwing in a sixth-rounder to sweeten the pot, a team like the Los Angeles Chargers—who only have one pick in each round this year—could be tempted to cough up their Day 1 pick. With three picks in the first round, the Texans could use this class as a turning point in their rebuild."

LA does have multiple picks in the draft this year but it is clear that they do not think their current late first-rounder is significantly more valuable than a second-rounder.
